Getting through a few colours and a little bit of wine(!) to attempt to get the latest portrait finished. On the home stretch now – nearly but not quite finished
Whilst waiting for the larger oil painting to dry I thought I would have a go at doing a quick black and white painting. I am really pleased with the end result although could do with cropping a little. All done in one layer over a couple of hours.
Having another go with the oil portrait but going large – we shall see.
Trying something new by adding some darker brown layers and white before adding the colours on top.
After about 5 days waiting for the white to dry have finally been able to add a little more paint. Starting to take shape but can’t wait to get the top layers on which basically involves blobs of brightly coloured paint!
More detail going on – soon time for some serious paint. Don’t know much about mediums but I think the next step is going to be using linseed oil. So far just used liquid and white spirit.
It was time to have another go a portrait oil painting and I am fairly happy with the results considering how it started!
So I have finally make a start on the next ‘masterpiece’! Not one for going big I think I am going to regret A2 size – it is going to take me forever to finish. The test will be whether I get bored before that happens.
Finally, something half decent! A pencil drawing of my youngest. In case anyone is wondering he is holding a menu over his head! This is so much better than the last two pictures I attempted which were filed in the bin (although they were pastel landscapes – maybe they are just not my thing).
This does still have some issues but good to do something ok again.
After the last week of sound sweet FA I have finally gotten round to doing something. I think this is either not very good or a work in progress – for the moment it is going to be the latter. For some reason the oils are going really dull and with the paper I’m using they are sinking in to much. Will try and improve it tomorrow.
