This was the effort of last night’s art class – I love it. It was so much fun just throwing on some paint and seeing what happened. May have to have another go at this
So this is how The Reptile has ended up – about 2 hours work. Next time I am going to try out some layering and see if that helps. Love the bright colors of the pastels though.
The new Sennelier pastels have arrived. They feel so much nicer than the WHSmith own brand although whether the result ends up better is yet to be seen. Starting with a Reptile. This is how it’s begun – aim to complete tomorrow.
This was the hilarious result of last night’s art class!! Took a mirror and had two hours to do a self portrait (The Big Painting Challenge style!). For those that know me this is pretty much my facial expression most of the time! I’m going to be kind on myself as I haven’t done a self portrait before in any medium. It could have been worse but hoping the next one is much much better!!
So, in the last week I have attempted to work with some WhSmith own brand soft pastels with no technical knowledge. Given the picture below, which was done in the same week as the landscape scene, I think something must have clicked! Now onwards with some better pastels, better compositions and a bit more time.
So this is where I am now. The above picture, drawn from a Steve McCurry photograph, is a culmination of above 5 years practice – more off than on! This is the same picture 5 years ago
Here I attempt to show what has come before and what is to come to hopefully illustrate progress – only time will tell. More content on its way!
